I have worked on residential projects from the time I started my career in structural engineering. At Alpha Omega Engineering, we work on three different types of residential projects: new construction, renovations, and existing condition observations with field reports. The first type of residential projects we work on is new construction. I have worked on large single family residences, town home developments, and multi-family developments. 
The second type of residential project is renovations. We will typically work with the architects for a particular renovation and coordinate all of the renovations. However, I do make appointments with individual home owners. The first step is to make a visit to the residence to make a visual observation of the structure and coordinate the necessary changes with the owner. 
The third type of residential project is a visual observation of the existing structure to determine if there is any structural inadequacies with a structure and give recommendations on how to resolve the issues if any exist.
